Aldersgate Presents Ministerial Alliance With Donation
February is easily recognized
as a month to
express our love: love for
our spouse, love for the
one we’re dating, love for
one another, and love for
our neighbors around the
world. I am thankful to be
part of a congregation that
recognizes God’s call to be
a global missional community
that shows love towards
all of God’s children.
Our mission outreach consistently
touches people in
Thailand, Uruguay,
Slovakia, The Central African
Republic, Liberia and
Slovakia.
Strategically, we are also
connected right here to
ministries that reach out
to those in our
community in need.
Through local ministries
like the Light House Shelter,
the Crisis Pregnancy
Center, and the Marion
Ministerial Alliance, we
are able to maximize the
amount of assistance we
offer.
For example, last year
the Alliance provided
22,000 meals, gave away
4,000 boxes of food, and
helped 180 families
financially. Alone, we
couldn’t have begun to
do that level of ministry,
but with the help of other
congregations and volunteers
we made an impact.
Last year, with the tough
economic times everyone
experienced, grants and
other funding resources
began to dry up for the
Alliance; at the same time
they were experiencing
unprecedented requests
for assistance. In November
we made an appeal to
help support the missional
work of the Alliance. A
generous donation was
collected of $5,000.
During our March to the
Manger we highlighted
the ministry of the Alliance
as one of three possible
places to designate a
Christmas gift. On Sunday,
January 22, 2012 the
Alliance Director, J.R.
Russell, was presented
with a check for $8,000
from our Christmas offering;
this brought the total
of Aldersgate’s gift to
$13,000. Thanks to you
and the generosity of our
congregation, we are
touching hearts and changing
lives here and around
the world.
